Cofinity-X collaborates with BMW group to implement business partner data management use case
Key results of the Cofinity-X consultation phase for the BMW Group
Data standardization and onboarding process:
BMW Group supplied initial business partner datasets, which Cofinity-X meticulously processed using the “Golden Record” method. This process involved cleaning, updating and standardizing the data to ensure accuracy and consistency. Subsequently, the refined data was returned to BMW Group, thereby proving the reliability and accuracy of the “Golden Record” process.
Structured data waves:
During the initial onboarding phase, the implementation occurred in seven structured waves, each focusing on specific data specialties such as debtors, creditors, EU and Americas data. This incremental approach allowed for targeted verification and extensive testing of multiple data sets.Cofinity-X and BMW Group teams held regular meetings to review changes made to the initial data. This collaborative effort ensured continuous improvement and alignment with BMW Group data management requirements.
Infrastructure testing:
Furthermore, during the onboarding process, massive load tests were successfully performed to verify the robustness of the system. These ensured the system’s efficiency in handling large volumes of data.
Key benefits of the Business Partner Data Management (BPDM) implementation
Elimination of data redundancies:
The so-called “Golden Record” process significantly reduces data redundancies, simplifying data management.
Improved data accuracy:
Standardized data formats and unique identifiers ensured high data accuracy and integrity.
Improved regulatory compliance:
Standardized data helps BMW Group meet various regulatory requirements, improving overall efficiency.
Operational efficiency:
Seamless data integration and processing improves data management for BMW Group business partners, resulting in time and cost savings.
Statements from key stakeholders
Oliver Ganser, BMW Group:
“A transformation from many individual efforts to one strong industry community- ultimately with reduced efforts for everyone. Further, it also results in more stable follow-up processes like logistics, finance, compliance, purchasing, sustainability. I want to thank the Catena-X consortium, the dedicated work of the BPDM team and the BMW team to bring all this together for us and the entire Catena-X Community and Cofinity-X!”
Thomas Rösch, CEO of Cofinity-X GmbH:
“Our Golden Record service leverages artificial intelligence and autonomous data sharing to reduce costs and meet the complex regulatory requirements of the automotive industry. We are grateful for the successful collaboration with BMW Group and look forward to providing operational benefits to all members of the Catena-X network.”
Future perspectives:
Looking ahead, Cofinity-X and BMW Group plan to expand BPDM capabilities by incorporating artificial intelligence to predict and mitigate potential disruptions in real time. More use cases are being implemented, including solutions for decarbonization, seamless parts traceability, and a circular economy for a sustainable supply chain.
